After his State examination for medicine in Berlin, Germany, Dr Gruter became both a specialist in Orthopedic and General Surgery.
Subsequently Dr Gruter immigrated to Cape Town, South Africa where he completed his Plastic Surgery training at Groote Schuur Hospital and went on to become the senior consultant of the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
